The Wells, 2023
stainless steel, acrylic, wood stain
The Wells is a dimensional mural at the The Ditch Water Discovery Center in Stephenville, Texas. The Middle Trinity Groundwater Conservation District monitors the drilling of wells across the Trinity Aquifer. This task involves monitoring well levels and other sites to gain an understanding of forces and resources deep beneath our feet. Each stainless steel tube represents 50 individual wells, shown across four counties in the district. Above ground lakes and waterways are drawn onto the wall in grey. The Trinity Aquifer outcrop, or recharge area, is stained in dark grey and indicates the aquifer layers that are exposed at the surface. The Aquifer subcrop is represented by diagonal lines that span across the southernmost counties of the district.
